Gifted/Talented services in Bridgeport ISD are provided through LINC (Learn, Inspire, Nurture, Create). LINC students are served through pull-out services at the elementary/intermediate level, a GT elective and advanced courses at middle school, along with advanced courses at high school.
State Goal for Services for Gifted Students
Students who participate in services for gifted students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication as evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment and reflect individuality and creativity. High school graduates who have participated in services for gifted children will have produced products and performances of professional quality.
Characteristics of a Gifted Child
- Poses unforeseen questions
- Is curious
- Generates complex, abstract ideas
- Knows without working hard
- Is beyond the group
- Needs 1-3 repetitions to master
- Prefers the company of intellectual peers or adults
- Expert who abstracts beyond the field
- May/may not be motivated by grades
- Is intellectual
