Tom W. Talley: Board of Trustee and Board President
Tom W. Talley brings many qualities to Bridgeport ISD's Board of Trustees as its current president. The retired school administrator is known for helping to emphasize the success of the district’s students.
He was first elected to Place 1 on the Board in 2012. Before being elected president, he served as the assistant secretary for three years. He stays updated on educational trends and legal issues. He’s attended Texas Association of School Boards conferences in San Antonio, Austin and Fort Worth as well as regional legislative update meetings.
As a retired educator, he is known for spotlighting the success of students and staff as well as recognizing those successes. He is often seen at numerous school functions to cheer on the students – in and outside of the classroom.
As a longtime resident of the Bridgeport area, Mr. Talley has a strong tie to the community. He is a member of the Bridgeport Lions Club, past member of Kiwanis Club and past Ministerial Leadership Team Member of Grace Fellowship Church. He’s also been a member of the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals, TRTA (Texas Retired Teachers Association) and Texas High School Coaches Association.
Mr. Talley received his bachelor’s degree from University of North Texas and his master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin University, where he also received his mid-management certification.
His wife is a retired teacher and they have two daughters, one who teaches in Frisco ISD and one who is a CRNA at Methodist Hospital in Dallas. They have four grandchildren.
