James Bost: Board of Trustee and Assistant Secretary
As a retired business manager, James (Jim) Bost brings a unique blend of financial expertise and community involvement to the Bridgeport ISD Board of Trustees.
Mr. Bost is a veteran trustee with more than 30 years of experience on the local board. He was first elected to Place 4 in 1983 and has been reelected by the voters for every election. He served as president of the Board from 2003 to 2015 and led the district in the passing of a $14 million bond package in 2010. He also helped the Board and district with the implementation of providing one-on-one technology for all Bridgeport ISD students.
He also has served as vice presidents and secretary of the Board and currently is the assistant secretary. He consistently attends conferences and meetings to keep informed of the latest trends and legal issues that directly affect the education of Bridgeport ISD students. He has earned more than 250 hours in educational training.
Mr. Bost has spent most of his professional life in business management, which included serving as business manager of a local prison and assistant manager at a Bridgeport grocery market.
His “consensus-building” experience in management has also helped the board work as a team. Mr. Bost received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lamar University. He was a founding member of the Bridgeport Education Foundation and has been treasurer and deacon for the First Baptist Church.
His wife Cheryl is a Bridgeport High School graduate and his daughter, Melanie, graduated from Bridgeport High in 1997. Their two grandsons currently attend Bridgeport schools.
