New Student Registration
We are so glad you are joining the Bridgeport ISD family and registering a new student to our district!
There are two steps to completing your registration. Please ensure that you complete both steps for your student to be registered.
Step 1
- Create an account in the Ascender Parent Portal.
- Complete the user information questions: username, password, email address and mobile phone number.” Then click next.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: The parent’s email address that is entered must match the email address the school will have on file for the student. This is also the email address where school communication will be delivered.
- Select a security question from the drop down menu and type in the security question answer. (This is case sensitive; you must re-enter this answer exactly the same later if retrieval of password is ever needed.) Then click Next.
- Click Finish. You will receive an email containing a link which you must click on to verify your account. If a mobile number was entered, a text message with a verification code will be sent. Enter the code under the Contact Information heading of the My Account page to verify your mobile number.
- On the My Account page under the Students heading, click Enroll a New Student.
- Proceed with the enrollment instructions.
Important Notes:
- Please note that once you complete the initial steps and your student is approved for enrollment, you will need to complete Part II by going to the campus.
- The new Ascender Parent Portal should only be used by parents and guardians. Students will have access to Ascender Student Portal in the fall where they will be able view their own grades and much more.
- Although each guardian can create an Ascender Parent Portal account for access to attendance, grades, etc., only one guardian should complete the steps above to register a student.
Step 2
After the Parent/Legal Guardian completes Part 1 of Registration (Online Portion), the Parent/Legal Guardian will need to complete Part - 2 in person with the Students’ campus Registrar.
- The Campus Registrar will provide the Parent/ Legal Guardian the student portal ID.
- The Parent/Legal Guardian will log back into their account and Link their students:
- Follow the below steps: TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION.
- Link their student
- Parent will enter in the portal ID and the students’ DOB and Click ADD
- The parent will click on maintain student data to complete Part 2 of Registration
The parent will click on the custom forms in part 2:
- Bus Registration
- Free and Reduced Lunch Application
- Student Handbook & Code of Conduct Acknowledgment
- BISD Attendance policy
- BISD Acceptable use policy
- BISD Permission to Administer OTC Medication Form
- The parent has completed Registration.
Registering a New Student Tutorial Video
To be able to complete registration, you will need to upload the following documents:
- Parent Identification (Valid Photo ID; Driver's License, Passport, Permanent Resident Card or Naturalization Papers)
- Proof of Residency - a utility bill (the current bill is required: credit card & cell phone bills, and driver's license will not be accepted); lease agreement; closing documents on a home; tax or mortgage statement on a home, or a notarized letter stating that the family is living with a Bridgeport ISD resident along with that resident's proof of residency. Shared Residency Forms can be obtained at your students' campus.
- Immunization - ALL NEW students need a current SHOT RECORD uploaded. Please upload your students' short records, ensuring there will be no delay in your student getting a schedule
- Birth Certificate
- Social Security Card
- Any prior school records if possible
New Student Registration with Current BISD Students Already Enrolled
If you currently have students enrolled in Bridgeport ISD, and have created an account in Ascender Parent Portal, but you need to enroll a brand new student.
Example: You currently have a 2nd and 4th grade student, but need to enroll a kindergarten student. If this is your situation, please follow the instructions on the New Student Registration page.
