At a special board meeting on Wednesday, May 22, the Board of Trustees approved Mr. Kyle Hatcher as the new Principal at Bridgeport High School. Mr. Hatcher is the current Bridgeport Intermediate School Principal and has been in this role since 2020.
"It is such a blessing to have the opportunity to continue to serve our Bridgeport community as the high school principal,” said Hatcher. “I am excited about the ability to continue with the relationships I've already built in BISD with families, staff, and the community while building and expanding a culture of pride and excellence at BHS."
Hatcher graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Studies Education and with his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University. He has served four years as principal and three years as assistant principal at Bridgeport Intermediate School. His experience also includes curriculum specialist and math interventionist as well as being a team lead for general education and math. Hatcher has received many awards including being named Teacher of the Year at Ginnings Elementary School in 2017 and United Way Teacher of the Year in 2010.
“We’re incredibly proud to announce Mr. Hatcher as the new building leader at the high school,” Assistant Superintendent PJ Giamanco said. “His dedication and commitment to his students, staff and community members is second to none and we look forward to seeing the impact he continues to make within our district.”
Giamanco sent out a survey to current high school families prior to interviews asking for feedback on the qualities our stakeholders want in the next high school principal. The survey responses were reviewed by the hiring committee before interviews began last week.
Mr. Hatcher will officially transition into his new role on July 1. Until then, he will be working immediately on BHS campus needs while finishing the school year with BIS until a new principal is hired.
