Bridgeport News Stories
For Jadon Maddux, Bridgeport, Texas, isn’t just a hometown—it’s a legacy. As a third-generation graduate of Bridgeport High School, Jadon’s roots run deep in the district. With both his parents and grandparents having attended Bridgeport schools, his educational journey was more than just academics and athletics—it was about family, tradition, and community.
Jadon graduated from Bridgeport High School in 2020, a year marked by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the unprecedented circumstances, his time at Bridgeport was filled with meaningful experiences, especially on the field and track. “Some of my best memories were wearing the Bridgeport jersey on Friday nights for football and competing at the state track meet,” he shared.
His involvement in school extended beyond sports. Jadon was a dedicated student, participating in National Honor Society, student council, and the Ready, Set, Teach program. Teachers and coaches left a lasting impact on him, particularly Miss Hancock, who became a trusted mentor even after high school. “When I was struggling in college, she was the person I turned to,” he said. Coaches Richie and White also played significant roles, continuing to offer guidance and support long after graduation.
After high school, Jadon pursued his passion for athletics at the University of Florida, where he ran track. Now, he is working toward a master’s degree in athletic training with aspirations of a career in sports medicine. His journey has taken him from working with Baylor University’s football program to an upcoming summer internship with the Dallas Cowboys, where he will gain firsthand experience in professional sports. “I’m still figuring out my exact path, but I know I want to help athletes and stay in the sports world,” he explained.
Reflecting on his time at Bridgeport, Jadon credits the district for shaping his work ethic and providing valuable opportunities. “Bridgeport helped me develop a strong sense of pride and responsibility. The athletic trainer at my high school inspired me, and that exposure led me to where I am today.”
To current Bridgeport students, his advice is simple: enjoy the moment and stay open to change. “Your goals will evolve, and that’s okay. I was eager to leave high school, but looking back, I wish I had taken more time to appreciate it. The friendships and experiences you gain here are special.”
Although he has moved beyond Bridgeport, Jadon remains connected to his roots. He still keeps up with the school’s football games online and visits whenever he can. “Bridgeport will always be home. It’s a small town with a big heart, and it has everything you need to succeed.”
Jadon Maddux is a proud Bridgeport alumnus, and his journey is just beginning. Whether on the field or in the training room, he is committed to making a difference—just as Bridgeport ISD made a difference in his life.
