Dewayne Tamplen Hired as Interim Principal of Bridgeport Middle School
Bridgeport ISD is excited to announce Dewayne Tamplen as the Interim Principal of Bridgeport Middle School.
“I am so grateful for this opportunity to support the great students and staff at Bridgeport Middle School and to support the great teaching and learning that goes on there,” said Tamplen. “I am looking forward to the start of the new year and being a part of the Bridgeport Independent School District community.”
Tamplen is a retired educator from Decatur ISD, where he served for over 30 years. He has worked as an assistant principal and principal at the intermediate and middle school level, and also taught science in the classroom.
Superintendent Dr. Amy Ellis said that various factors led the district to the decision to hire an interim principal after the late departure of the former BMS principal. “We don’t want to rush the process due to the lateness of the opening and instead will be able to slow it down and ensure we do our due diligence to get the best fit for our community, our district, and Bridgeport Middle School,” said Dr. Ellis.
Tamplen will serve as the interim Bridgeport Middle School principal for the start of the school year, and the district plans to engage the community, staff, and students for further input before hiring for the permanent position in September 2022 for an October 1, 2022, start date at the latest.
