Board Approves New Bridgeport Middle School Principal

At the board meeting on Monday, Sept. 12, the Board of Trustees approved Mrs. Candice Oliver as the new Principal at Bridgeport Middle School. Mrs. Oliver joins the Bridgeport family from Rockwall ISD, where she is currently serving as a middle school assistant principal.

“I am super excited about the opportunity to be the Bridgeport Middle School Principal,” said Oliver. “I can't wait to start meeting Bridgeport students, working with the staff, and connecting with families. My family and I are looking forward to joining the Bridgeport community!”

Oliver graduated with her Bachelor’s in English from the University of Texas at Tyler and with her Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University in Beaumont. She has served five years as a campus administrator, and her experience includes special education team lead, ESL Specialist, new teacher mentor and middle and high school teacher, as well as being named Teacher of the Year.

“Candice Oliver has a strong, student-first perspective, intentional commitment to growth for the entire population, and thoughtful care and empathy for teachers, parents and our community,” said Assistant Superintendent P.J. Giamanco. “I know she will lead Bridgeport Middle School to excellence for all Bulls and Sissies.”

Mrs. Oliver’s first official day as the new Principal will be Monday, Sept. 26. “We look forward to her arrival on campus and what BMS will accomplish,” said Giamanco.
