Board Approves New Principal at Bridgeport Elementary School

At the Board meeting on Monday, April 17, Mrs. Bonita Jeter was approved as the new Principal at Bridgeport Elementary School. 

“I am thankful to be a part of the Bridgeport ISD family and feel blessed to get the opportunity to lead our elementary campus, staff, and students,” said Jeter. “BISD is a special place that has become a second home to me, and I am excited and feel privileged to be a part of the district's future.”

Jeter graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Tarleton State University and with her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University, while completing the Principal preparation program from Stephen F. Austin University. She has served as an Assistant Principal at Bridgeport Intermediate and taught at Bridgeport Middle School. Prior to coming to BISD she was an elementary teacher in Temple ISD and Belton ISD.

“We are extremely proud to announce Bonita Jeter as the Principal of Bridgeport Elementary School,” said Assistant Superintendent PJ Giamanco. “Mrs. Jeter’s love for Bridgeport and all of our students is sincere as well as her desire to see all students succeed!”

In her years of experience as a teacher and campus administrator, Jeter has served as Behavior and Discipline Team Coordinator, Reading and Writing Workshop Facilitator, Reading Language Arts Curriculum Writer, Campus Mentor Teacher, served on the STAAR analysis committee with TEA and was named Campus Teacher of the year on multiple occasions. 

Jeter will begin serving as Principal of Bridgeport Elementary on July 1, 2023.
