New Assistant Principal Announced at Bridgeport Elementary School
At a special board meeting on Monday, May 15, the Bridgeport ISD Board of Trustees approved Mrs. Britni Valkenaar as the new Assistant Principal at Bridgeport Elementary School.
In her time in the education field, Valkenaar has served as an elementary school teacher for seven years, a Reading Language Arts teacher and Team Leader, UIL Coach, LPAC Meeting Coordinator, Campus Mentor Teacher, worked with Student Learning Centers Development and served on the Campus Improvement Team.
“Mrs.Valkenaar’s experience working at the elementary, intermediate, and middle school campus makes her a well-rounded candidate to support student success at our earliest grade levels,” said Superintendent Dr. Amy Ellis. “She is a positive, loving, caring individual that has a heart for serving others.”
Valkenaar graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and her Master of Education in Leadership Stephen F. Austin State University. She has served the last three years as a campus coordinator serving our ESL students (LPAC Coordinator) and interventionist at Bridgeport Intermediate School. Prior to starting at BIS she was an interventionist at BMS and a second grade teacher at BES.
“As I move into my new role as BES Assistant Principal, I will continue to serve our families the very best way I can,” said Valkenaar. “I’m honored and humbled at this opportunity and look forward to all of the great things happening in Bridgeport ISD.”
