Board Approves Salary Increase for All District Employees

At a special board meeting on Monday, June 26, the Board of Trustees adopted the 2023-24 Salary & Compensation plan, which includes a 3% pay increase for all staff in Bridgeport ISD.

On Monday, June 26, 2023, Trustees received a Legislative Update and information related to the 2023-24 budget, compensation goals, and long-range budget projections. Due to the Texas Legislature having not provided any final funding increase(s) to the student basic allotment, the compensation plan for the 2023-24 fiscal year will require use of fund reserves to meet our important budgetary goals.

“We are grateful to our Board of Trustees for approving this compensation plan, giving our hard-working faculty and staff a pay increase,” said Superintendent Dr. Amy Ellis. “Although the Texas Legislature has not provided a funding increase for public education, our Trustees did whatever it took to make sure we met our budget goal of a pay increase for all staff.”

The increase will be a 3% GPI (General Pay Increase) for all employees in the district based on their 2022-23 salary. Additionally, the compensation plan calls for an increase of the employer monthly medical contribution from $295 to $335.

“Bridgeport ISD is committed to providing the best possible educational environment for our students and families, and we understand that hiring and retaining great educators is the key,” said Board President Scott Hiler. “We are focused on student success and organizational excellence and know that compensation for our teachers and staff will drive both of these goals.”

Bridgeport ISD continues to be committed to providing a budget that includes meeting its budgetary goals: increasing safety and security, addressing the individual instructional needs of students, increasing staff pay, market pay adjustments and incentives for recruitment and retention.
